Lucie Galloway: Securing a Role with Luminae

When Lucie Galloway joined the programme, she was looking for support to move into employment but faced several barriers. She struggled with confidence and communicating her strengths to employers, and she wanted to gain more work experience. Lucie was interested in securing part-time or full-time work in the hospitality, retail, or warehouse sectors.

Her main goals were to gain qualifications relevant to her chosen sector, build her confidence, and update her CV and cover letter to better reflect her skills and experience.

Building Confidence and Skills

To help Lucie progress, she was referred to a range of development opportunities, including the Skills and Qualities Workshop, Interview Skills Workshop, and an online TrainMe course on Problem Solving in the Workplace. These sessions helped Lucie improve her confidence, develop her communication skills, and better understand how to present her strengths to employers.

Lucie worked closely with her key worker, Joanne Marshall, attending the Youth Hub to search and apply for job opportunities. Joanne helped Lucie create a new CV that highlights her previous work experience, which included roles with The Cheesecake Guy, Card Collection, and Volcano Takeaway.

Securing Employment

With her updated CV and increased confidence, Lucie applied for a Production Operator role with Luminae and was successful in securing the position. She quickly settled into the role and shared that the job is going well and that she is really enjoying the experience.

Reflecting on the support she received, Lucie said:

CEIS Ayrshire offered great support and advice throughout my journey into employment. Their guidance helped me feel more confident and ready for work.

Employer Feedback

The position was supported through a Personal Recruitment Incentive (PRI) funded by North Ayrshire Council for an initial six-month period. Luminae were so impressed with Lucie’s performance that they chose to keep her on after the funded period ended.

The employer also praised the support provided throughout the recruitment process. Ruari MacDonald, Director at Luminae, said:

I would highly recommend CEIS Ayrshire to any employer looking to recruit young people. They provide an excellent link between employers and motivated candidates, taking the time to understand both the needs of the business and the individual. Their support throughout the recruitment process makes hiring smoother, more efficient, and far more effective.
