How We Boosted Kirstine’s Confidence for the Job Market

Background

Kirstine was referred to our Employability Support Programme by the Kilbirnie Job Centre. She was actively seeking full-time employment and enrolled in the programme to receive tailored guidance and resources that would help her secure meaningful work.

Career Evaluation and Skills Assessment

During our initial sessions, we focused on evaluating Kirstine’s career history. We took the time to assess her existing skills, qualities, and experiences that could be leveraged to appeal to potential employers. Through thoughtful discussions, we explored different career options that aligned with her goals and current situation.

Rebuilding Confidence and Expanding Employability Prospects

Kirstine’s confidence had been impacted by several factors, but through our work together, it became clear that she had underestimated her own abilities and past experiences. Despite having a diverse skill set, she was not fully recognising the value she could offer to future employers. Kirstine had also been actively seeking employment while engaging in voluntary work in an unfamiliar field, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

To help her rebuild her confidence, we used her voluntary work experience as a starting point for updating her CV. We worked with Kirstine to use her previous roles to demonstrate the breadth of experience she had accumulated over the years, highlighting her transferrable skills. This was an important step in boosting her confidence, as it made her aware of the wide range of skills she could offer to potential employers. Kirstine became more assured of her ability to succeed in the job market, improving her confidence.

Upskilling and Demonstrating Commitment

Kirstine was proactive in seeking ways to further develop her skills. She participated in a series of Zoom Workshops and accredited courses, which not only enhanced her confidence but also strengthened her CV. By committing to upskilling, Kirstine showed future employers that she was dedicated to continuous development showing that she had the drive to learn new skills.

Kirstine received additional help with completing job applications, preparing for interviews, and refining her approach to finding suitable work. Our team worked closely with her to ensure that she was well-prepared and had the necessary resources to succeed in her job search.

Outcome

As a result of her dedication, the skills she gained throughout the programme, and the continuous support provided by CEIS Ayrshire, Kirstine successfully transitioned into full-time employment. She is now thriving in her new role, feeling more confident in her professional abilities.
