Why First Aid Training is Essential in the Workplace
Qualified First Aiders and Mental Health First Aiders are a vital part of any workplace. They are trained and competent to:
- Attend to injuries and medical emergencies
- Preserve life until professional help arrives
- Promote recovery and minimise the effects of injury or illness
- Recognise signs of mental health concerns and provide appropriate initial support
- Help create a safer, more supportive workplace environment
All employers have a duty to make sure their workplace is compliant with health and safety regulations by ensuring arrangements are in place for employees to receive first aid attention should they become ill or receive an injury at work. Providing mental health first aid training can also support staff wellbeing by helping employees respond appropriately when someone may be experiencing mental health difficulties.
Providing first aid and mental health first aid training ensures compliance, empowers staff with confidence, and gives them the skills to act quickly and appropriately in a range of workplace situations.
