Case Study

Erin’s Road to the Motor Trade Industry

Erin first connected with CEIS Ayrshire through the Beith Hub, where she was supported by Lynne Carr, Key Worker Team Lead. As part of her initial engagement, Erin was enrolled in three face-to-face employability workshops designed to build confidence, skills, and readiness for work.

During this time, Erin expressed an interest in the ASIF Ignite Introduction to the Motor Trade course, delivered in partnership with the Bridgend Group. Lynne supported Erin throughout the application process, helping her successfully submit her online application.

Taking the First Step

The ASIF Ignite programme is a six-week course designed to provide hands-on experience across multiple areas of the motor industry, including:

  • Vehicle sales
  • Maintenance and servicing
  • Spray painting
  • Panel beating
  • Parts and logistics
  • Customer service

The course is ideal for individuals with little or no prior experience, helping to bridge the gap between job seekers and employment opportunities in the motor trade.

Erin attended the programme’s information session, where she stood out as the only female participant in the group. She approached the opportunity with enthusiasm, receiving very positive feedback during her one-to-one discussion with staff.

From Interview to Offer

Following the session, Erin was invited to interview for a place on the course. She performed well during the interview and was delighted to learn she had secured a place on the programme.

Throughout the course, Erin gained experience across several departments within the Bridgend Group. While she explored multiple areas, she discovered a passion for the Paint Shop, where she chose to spend the remainder of her placement.

Building Confidence and Skills

As Erin progressed through the programme, her confidence continued to grow. With the support of Lynne, she began preparing for the next step, applying for a trainee position within the Bridgend Group.

Erin attended her course graduation and prepared for her interview within the Paint Department. Lynne provided tailored interview guidance and practical tips, helping Erin feel fully prepared and confident in her abilities.

A Successful Outcome

Erin’s hard work, commitment, and growing confidence paid off, she successfully secured an apprenticeship with the Bridgend Group.

Erin had this to say about her experience.

Thanks for the support and help from Lynne Carr at CEIS Ayrshire and the Bridgend Group. The training course was a great experience, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get into the motor trade industry. Alison from the Bridgend Group was a great help and supported me along the way.

A Bright Future Ahead

The ASIF Ignite programme gave Erin the opportunity to explore different areas of the motor trade industry while gaining valuable, targeted training. With support from CEIS Ayrshire, she was guided onto the right path for her future.

We are proud to have supported Erin on her journey. Programmes like this play an important role in helping individuals build employability skills and create meaningful career opportunities.
