David’s Quick Journey to Success

David hadn’t worked in a few years, but within three months of registering with CEIS Ayrshire he had secured a job with Tesco.

Each week David attended the Beith Youth Hub where he and his key worker, Lynne, updated his CV and cover letter and searched and applied for jobs.

Some applications didn’t work out, but David kept searching and applying. Martine, our Business Services Officer, informed David about employer information sessions and various other opportunities. One opportunity was a Sector-based Work Academy Programme (SWAP) with Tesco, organised by the DWP.

He was successful in gaining a place on the Tesco SWAP where he completed online training and four 4-hour trial shifts. The Tesco SWAP came to an end, and David attended a job interview with Tesco for a temporary Christmas role. David felt the interview went OK, although he noticed some pauses before he answered. He later found out he had been successful and secured the job, starting on 26 October.
