Supporting Syrian Refugees with Employability Support

Background

CEIS Ayrshire partnered with WEA Scotland (Workers Educational Association) to offer employability training for Syrian refugees at the Ardrossan Employability HUB. The training was delivered via CEIS Ayrshire’s online platform, TrainMe, over the course of two months. The goal was to provide essential skills and knowledge that would empower participants to enhance their employability and integrate more effectively into the workforce.

Programme Delivery

Participants engaged in various courses tailored to their individual needs and professional goals. The focus was on practical skill development, such as communication, digital literacy, and business fundamentals. CEIS Ayrshire’s team provided ongoing support and mentorship to ensure that participants could fully leverage the training for personal and professional growth.

Saltcoats Town Hall Event

In May, CEIS Ayrshire collaborated with WEA, North Ayrshire Council, and the Ayrshire College to attend an event at Saltcoats Town Hall for Syrian refugees, organised by North Ayrshire Council. The event was geared towards school leavers and aimed to promote modern apprenticeships offered by North Ayrshire Council. CEIS Ayrshire was present to engage with attendees, offer guidance, and provide additional employability support.

This event served as an excellent opportunity for CEIS Ayrshire to connect directly with individuals from the community, understand their needs, and promote available resources. The team also took the chance to engage with past programme participants to learn more about their experiences and gather feedback.

Participant Testimonials

CEIS Ayrshire gathered valuable feedback from those who participated in the employability training programme at the Ardrossan Employability HUB. Here are some of their stories:

Ahmad Zamir Ahmadi

“We have been receiving online training for the last two months, which we have found very useful. It supports and helps us a lot in terms of finding jobs and learning how to communicate. All the colleagues who are there support us on a regular basis, and we found it very useful for our daily life.”

Zubar Ander

“The courses I have been doing at the hub include cyber security and business for Facebook and Twitter. The courses here are going to help with the job I want to get. I want to do media work for YouTube. I like it, and I want everyone to come and join CEIS Ayrshire.”

Abdulsalam Idlebi

“It is good for me. I started a new business and took courses in sales skills, social media, business, and customer service, and these courses are helping me.”
