Andrew Secured a Job the Same Day he was Interviewed
When Andrew first started with CEIS Ayrshire he had recently just finished college and was unsure of what his next steps would be. During the initial registration we identified that Andrew needed support with CV building, confidence building and help to prepare for any upcoming interviews.
To help build Andrew’s confidence he was referred to our Skills and Training team to attend a 3-week workshop called Mentoring Circles. This workshop was designed to support young people aged 16-24 to build confidence, learn about money management and the responsibilities of employment. Andrew attended every session and worked well with the other young clients who attended.
Alongside Mentoring Circles, Andrew gained accredited qualifications using our online training platform TrainMe. Some of the qualifications he gained were – Customer Service, Introducing GDPR and Emergency First Aid at Work.
Attending the Youth Hub and Support With Job Applications
Andrew also attended one of our Youth Hubs in Ardrossan to continue improving on his confidence and social skills. During this we supported him with job applications and information about the jobs that were currently in North Ayrshire. We also tailored a CV for Andrew to showcase what he has to offer employers.
While Andrew was keeping busy with the Youth Hub and his online training, we worked on preparing him for interviews. We worked on a 1-1 basis to look through the different types of questions that he may be asked during interviews and once he was happy with his progress we linked in with Rachael, our Business Services team leader and arranged Andrew to attend mock interview practice sessions to ensure he was comfortable and ready for any interviews that he would attend.
At the start of August, we supported Andrew to apply for a Warehouse Assistant role with Cunninghame Furniture Recycling. This job role was secured through ERI funding and Andrew was successful in gaining an interview. Andrew used his skills and interview techniques that he had learned during his time with CEIS Ayrshire and was offered the job the same day he attended his interview!
