CEIS Ayrshire

How we Helped Michelle to get a Job in Security

We provided Michelle with new skills and qualifications to help her get a job with Amberstone Security!

Michelle was referred to CEIS Ayrshire by her work coach at Irvine Job Centre in February this year.  She had been claiming Universal Credit since October 2021 but had previously been a Carer for her son for many years.

Michelle had never been in paid employment and was now taking steps to gain employment.  When we first met, she had an interview lined up for Aldi but was unsuccessful.  We discussed the benefits of the Zoom workshops and Michelle was keen on attending these to pick up tips for any potential interviews.

In February and March Michelle attended the Interview Skills and Elevator Pitch workshops and felt that these were beneficial and that she could use these newly learned hints and tips going forward.  Michelle also completed the Covid 19 Safe Workplaces course.

Training Towards SIA Badge.

In April we discussed next steps and Michelle had been thinking of gaining her SIA badge as she had a friend who worked in Security, and she liked the idea of this type of work.  We assisted her in applying for ITA Funding to cover the cost of the training.

In May Michelle attended the Emergency First Aid at Work at SCQF Level 6 training with Blueprint in Glasgow and 3 weeks later completed and passed the Highfield Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6. We assisted Michelle in compiling a robust CV adding in the newly gained qualifications.

This month (June) Michelle has been offered a position with Amberstone Security but is required to have the SIA badge.  We discussed this with Irvine Job Centre who have agreed to pay for this through there Flexible Support Fund.  Michelle is awaiting her start date.
