Helping Vicki Find Part Time Work

Kilbirnie Job Centre referred Vicki to CEIS Ayrshire for employability support. She was looking for support to get back into part time work. Vicki had limited hours and days she could work as her child was still of school age.

We spent time looking at her skillset and how it could link into different business sectors. Viki’s confidence was low due to being out of work and she was a bit nervous about going into work and raising a child.

We started to rebuild her CV and look at the skills she has to offer. Having been in a variety of jobs before she had a lot of work and life skills. Building her CV together also helped her to regain confidence. Vicki would have a lot of different work options available that would fit into her current situation.

Gaining Work with North Ayrshire Council

Vicki was also booked onto our Zoom workshops and accredited courses to improve her CV. This would show employers her determination to gain employment and restart her career.

North Ayrshire Council were advertising positions in schools as part of their Skills for Life programme. This was perfect for Vicki, so we completed the application together. She received support for the interview and secured a 6-month funded position with a local school as a Facility Cleaner. She had to complete a series of accredited qualifications as part of the job offer. These qualifications were completed online from her home. She passed all the qualifications with flying colours which helped improve her confidence. These were then added to her CV for future use.

With her newfound confidence she had also applied for other positions with North Ayrshire Council. Vicki attended an interview for a Dining room Supervisors position in a local school. She was also successful in securing this position. The Skills for the Life position was better suited for Vicki so she declined her other offers and went with North Ayrshire Council.
