CEIS Ayrshire

Gary Joins Our Business Services Team

Gary registered with CEIS Ayrshire in March 2024.  He had a lengthy background in Sales and was hoping to find a new and exciting role different from the type of job he had worked in for many years.

He was finding it difficult to find suitable employment that would work around his family commitments.  During the initial appointment, we created an action plan to support Gary in his employability journey. We updated his CV to highlight the transferable skills he gained from his previous jobs.

Gary attended our online employability workshops to prepare for future interviews. He completed workshops on confidence, applications, skills and qualities, the STAR technique, and elevator pitches.

We also provided Gary with access to our online employability portal, Develop Me. This provided him with more resources that he was able to access from home in his own time.

We spoke with Gary about a Business Services vacancy with CEIS Ayrshire and set up a meeting with a colleague for him to find out more about the role. After completing the application, Gary received an invite for an interview on the 7th of May.

Gary was successful at the interview and was offered to start the new role on the 21st May.  Gary has now been in the role for 4 weeks and is enjoying the new job.  He recently completed training in Equality, Diversity and Discrimination to assist him in his new role.

“Looking for new employment is not easy whether you are young or old, these are very challenging times. It felt like an up uphill struggle, thankfully the support, encouragement and training I got from CEIS certainly helped me. Focusing on the job in hand with training workshops, it gave me a purpose and get my CV out to employers. They say in life timing is everything and I was offered the position as Business Services Officer. Delighted to be part of a great team who have one goal, help those who are unemployed and give them the skills and encouragement to believe in themselves in order to fulfil their dreams of getting a job they want”
