Find out how first class treatment supported Carly to get a job
At CEIS Ayrshire we deliver employability support to North Ayrshire Council residents looking for advice on jobs, training and further education. We’re really proud of the work we do in helping individuals start the next chapter of their life.
Carly worked closely with colleagues in our Irvine office to help her into employment. Read Carly’s story below.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those that have supported me and gave me helpful advice during my time with CEIS Ayrshire, The Ayrshire Community Trust (TACT) and Salus.
I have been unable to work for 2 years and in that time my mental health declined and my confidence was at an all time low. I asked for support and received mental health support and guidance from Megan at Salus who was very friendly, professional and gave me the courage and strength to keep going and find my confidence.
I have had the most amazing, continued support from Lynne at CEIS Ayrshire who has helped me to revamp my CV, supported and encouraged training programmes to keep me learning whilst being off work and for being there for me to chat to and to keep me up to date with programmes I could join.
I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the group zoom calls through TACT and it was lovely meeting and talking with Donald, Peter and Cheryl who made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I especially enjoyed the cooking classes and the interaction with the other group members, I feel this was important for my confidence and socially talking to people I didn’t know very well and I highly recommend the classes that TACT offer as there is so many benefits including interacting with others and learning new skills without pressure or simply yoga for beginners as something different that’s looking after your mental health and wellbeing, even listening to others stories were inspiring and grounding.
2 years after becoming unemployed and working through medical and mental health I have now been offered an opportunity of full time employment through working with TACT and the Scottish Government scheme to help people get back into work and cannot thank them and everyone else for the help they have given me, including Cheryl who encouraged and believed in me to apply.
I hope that people in the community won’t be embarrassed to ask for help and support and I also hope they receive the same first class treatment that I did. I understand that its not easy and there is almost certainly challenges along the way but just by receiving the support that I did, I never felt I was alone and even at my own slow but steady pace, I continued to look for the light at the end of the tunnel. I very much look forward to this new chapter in my life and wish you all the best for the future.”
