Employment Skills Gained Through Training

Help to Look for Employment.

Roy lives in the 3 towns area and re engaged with CEIS Ayrshire in Feb 2022. He had used our services in the past to find work. Roy was now struggling to find suitable employment on his own after falling out of work.

At a re engagement meeting with his key worker we looked at how to regain Roy’s confidence. COVID lockdown and a series of no responses from jobs applied for caused his confidence to decline. Roy and his key worker created an action plan of support. This action plan would help boost his confidence and refocus him on job searching.

Online Training.

He attended a series of ZOOM training courses designed to refresh his employment skills and to help boost his own self confidence. We updated his previous CV and assisted him with uploading it onto online job sites. He also attended a series of one-to-one appointments with his keyworker. This helped re-focus him on his job searching and sending applications to employers.

Roy started to come into the Stevenson office on a regular basis to use our computers for accessing vacancies. He also attended online eLearning courses to help increase his confidence. He completed First Aid at Work and Lv2 Food Safety – Catering. These were then added to his CV and updated on employability websites.

Over 25 Employability Hub.

In August 2022 he attended the Over 25 Employability Hub. Roy became involved in all the training sessions over the month. He completed a variety of workshops such as Skills and Qualities, Cover Letters and CV, Resilience, Effective job searching, Elevator Pitch, STAR Interview Skills and Application Forms, which he felt boosted his confidence.

Roy completed the training provided at the Employability Hub. He applied for a position with the Seamill Hydro as a Kitchen Assistant and secured an interview. Roy received mock interview training to prepare him. The interview went well for Roy, and he was offered the job and started work in September.
