Care Academy

CEIS Ayrshire

CEIS Ayrshire pride themselves on working closely with local partners and providers to help people into employment. One of our successful employability programmes is the Care Academy in partnership with North Ayrshire Council.

We work with the Council to organise training and support for unemployed North Ayrshire residents looking to get into the Care sector. Within our team we have a dedicated Advisor who works closely with all clients assisting them with applications, interviews and any questions that arise along the way.

As part of our Care Academy, we look to enhance the client’s confidence as well as introducing SQA accredited courses to reflect what they are learning throughout the process.

Below are some of the courses available to clients through our online training platform, TrainMe when attending the Academy:

  • Understanding your role in Care
  • Safeguarding Adults
  • Nutrition and Hydration
  • Infection Control
  • Health and Safety in a Care Setting
  • Person Centered Care
  • Dignity and Privacy

Successful clients are then registered by one of our advisors and guided through a series of workshops which include how to develop their CV, assistance with any application forms, and participation in mock interviews to ensure they are as prepared as possible.

Thereafter clients are guaranteed an interview with North Ayrshire Council’s Care at Home team. If successful at interview, clients can expect a 20 hour a week contract for 6 months with a 4 day on, 4 day off rotation. This will be varied between both early and late shifts.

To date, we have helped 22 people into jobs as part of the Care Academy, and we have received some brilliant feedback from those who have been successful in obtaining employment. The training programme runs all year round, and if you are interested in learning more or are eager to begin your career in Care, get in touch with us now.
